SC halts mosque survey orders, restricts lower courts in pending cases
Mumbai’s six Lok Sabha seats are actively participating in Phase 5 of the 2024 elections, with prominent Bollywood personalities stepping out early to cast their votes. Farhan Akhtar, Zoya Akhtar, and their mother Honey Irani were seen waiting in line at their polling station, as captured by ANI visuals. They proudly displayed their ink-stained fingers after voting. Actor Akshay Kumar also voted early, encouraging citizens to exercise their right to vote. "I want my India to be developed and strong. I voted keeping that in mind. India should vote for what they deem is right...I think voter turnout will be good," he told reporters.
Elections are being conducted across Mumbai North, Mumbai North West, Mumbai North East, Mumbai North Central, Mumbai South, and Mumbai South Central constituencies. The voting, which began at 7 am and continues until 6 pm, is part of the fifth phase involving eight states/UTs. Over 8.95 crore voters, including 4.26 crore women and 5409 third-gender electors, will decide the fate of 695 candidates. Maharashtra, with 48 seats, is the second-largest Lok Sabha state, and the counting of votes will be held on June 4.
